TV Stars - Really? They Started On The Legit Stage

Many times the general public associates an actor with a role they play on a long-running television show, not realizing that often that thespian had an active career on the stage first. Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterston on Law and Order, Jason Alexander on Seinfeld, and Patricia Heaton on Everybody Loves Raymond are a few of the many actors who first trained for, cut their teeth on, and professionally performed on the legitimate stage.

The fact is the technique most often taught to American stage actors - some form of the Stanislavski Method - works very nicely on both TV and film. Although there are adjustments to be made going from the stage to television, a well-trained stage actor can usually make those adjustments fairly quickly.

The biggest changes have to do with the subtlety employed by those acting for the camera. Stage actors find that physically and vocally less is more in front of the camera. Additionally, a good film or television actor has a sound sense of how to use the camera frame to their best advantage. An actor like Michael Caine is a master at this.

For someone who has only done television or film, acting on the stage can be difficult. The stage demands that actors sustain a character for long periods of time, something the electronic media does not do. Overall, stage performing also calls for bigger actions than those needed for television and film. If someone has never been trained for the theatre, this can be intimidating.

Of course the scariest thing about acting on stage is the fact that you’re in front of a live audience and if you make a mistake, you don’t get a Mulligan. Even when a television show is done in front of a "live audience," there’s less pressure for the actor to be perfect. If they "go up" (that is, forget their lines), they can make a joke and get a laugh while "cut" is called. They then get to try the moment, action or scene again. There is no "cut" in a live stage performance; there is only "covering" for a flubbed line, a missed entrance, or a misplaced prop.

Here are a few actors that you’ve become familiar with on television who first acted on the legitimate stage.

Jerry Orbach

Orbach, who passed away in 2004, was best known as the wisecracking Detective Lennie Briscoe on Law and Order. As a young man, he attended the University of Illinois and Northwestern University where he studied drama. After going to New York, he continued to study for the stage. He became closely associated with musicals, creating the role of El Gallo and singing the well-know opening number "Try to Remember" in the long-running musical The Fantasticks. He won the Tony in 1969 for his portrayal of Chuck Baxter in Promises, Promises; he sang the hit song "I’ll Never Fall in Love Again" in that show. He also played leads in Chicago (Billy Flynn) and Forty-Second Street (Julian Marsh). Most Law and Order fans don’t realize that Orbach had a beautiful, resonate singing voice.

Bebe Neuwirth

Beatrice "Bebe" Neuwirth has recently become a regular on Law and Order, where she plays the role of Tracey Kibre. However, it was on the sitcom Cheers that she found fame by playing Lilith Sternin-Crane - a tough, tense psychiatrist and wife of Frasier Crane. Neuwirth trained at the Julliard School and first made her name as a dancer and actor in the national tour of A Chorus Line (1980), where she played Cassie and Sheila. In 1982, she appeared on Broadway in Dancin’, directed and choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse, and in the musical Little Me. She cemented her reputation on the Great White Way by playing the lead in Bob Fosse’s revival of the musical Sweet Charity (1986), for which she won a Tony. Neuwirth is an amazing, charismatic musical performer, who commands the stage with her voice and body.

Jason Alexander

Best know as Jerry Seinfeld’s obnoxious best friend George Costanza in the sitcom Seinfeld, Alexander, who was born Jay Greenspan in Newark, NJ, is another former Tony winner. While he was an undergraduate at Boston College, Alexander was cast in Stephen Soundheim’s Broadway musical Merrily We Roll Along. He won the Best Actor in A Musical Tony for his role in Jerome Robbin’s Broadway (1989). In the first few episodes of Seinfeld, he wasn’t quite sure of how to play George Castanza so he imitated Woody Allen.

Sam Waterston

On television he plays tough, no nonsense D.A. Jack McCoy in Law and Order (1990), but originally Waterston was best known for his stage roles. He went to Yale, where he did not study acting, but did taking acting classes at the American Actors Workshop in Paris. Waterston played numerous roles in New York, including Jonathan in Oh, Dad, Poor, Dad, Mama’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feeling so Sad, Hamlet in Hamlet, and Signoir Benedick of Padua in Much Ado About Nothing, for which he won the Drama desk award for Best Actor. Prior to becoming associated with Law and Order, he was best known for his work in straight plays, both new and classic. On stage, Waterston perfected an elegant, refined style, displaying an ability to make precise and subtle acting choices.

Barry Bostwick

On the Michael J. Fox sitcom Spin City, Bostwick played the dimwitted mayor Randall M. Winston Jr. in 70 episodes. Since that time, he’s appeared on numerous hit TV shows as a guest star, including Scrubs, Cold Case and Law and Order. But Bostwick has deep Broadway roots that include the creation of the role of Danny Zuko in Grease, for which he received a Best Actor in a Musical nomination, and the creation of the lead role of Jamie Lockhart in the musical The Robber Bridegroom, for which he won the Tony. Bostwick, who also played in numerous straight plays, was known for his high energy and slapdash style. While performing in his award winning run as Jamie Lockhart, Bostwick broke his arm when he fell swinging across the stage on a rope. He proved he was a trouper though when, after a short recuperative period, he got back on stage with his arm in a cast and continued to play Lockhart, rope swing and all.

Patricia Heaton

For 70 episodes, Heaton played Debra Barone, Ray Romano’s wife on the very popular sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. As a young woman, she focused on theatre arts at Ohio State University and then went to New York where she studied with William Esper. She made her debut in the Broadway gospel musical Don’t Get God Started, but overall during her career in New York she was relegated to small roles. With a few acting buddies, she started a theatre company called Stage Three, which produced new works in NYC. In 1989 they took their successful production of The Johnstown Vindicator to Los Angeles, where casting directors saw and liked Heaton. Slowly her TV career started to take off. But Heaton has long acknowledged that despite the fact that she never made it big on Broadway, her stage training has been instrumental to her success on television.

James Gandolfini

Gandolfini continues his run as the cold-hearted, insecure, narcissistic Tony Soprano on HBO’s hit series The Sopranos. After receiving a degree in Communications from Rutgers University, Gandolfini went on to study acting in the late 1980’s at the prestigious Actors Studio in New York City. After making his professional stage debut in Big El's Best Friend, he appeared in many New York productions. He made his Broadway debut in 1992 as Steve Hubbell in the revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, which starred Alex Baldwin and Jessica Lang. Other New York credits included On the Waterfront, One Day Wonder and Tarantulas Dancing. The same year he first appeared on Broadway, he also landed his first screen role, which was in Sidney Lumet's A Stranger Among Us. Since 1992, he’s appeared in over 20 films. He’s been Tony Soprano in over 70 episodes.

Other actors, who have either made their name or learned invaluable acting lessons in the theatre before becoming part of the electronic entertainment industry, include Martin Sheen, Stockard Channing, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Duvall, Meryl Streep, and Swoosie Kurtz. These actors have labored hard to learn their craft on what was the first acting platform available to humankind - the live stage.

Movies are a little over 100 years old and television is about 75 years old. The formal theatre goes back over 2,500 years! It’s the true learning and testing ground for acting technique, stamina, and skill that, once honed, can then be transferred to any other venue.

Go to a Broadway show or a professional theatre near you - you may catch a performance by someone you’ll see break through on the tube in the next few years. One night, you’ll be sitting in your den or living room watching the next big hit drama or sitcom and say, "Hey, didn’t we see that actor on the stage?" Yeah, you did, before they were famous. Very cool.

TV Blogger

I suppose it's a good thing when it's damn near impossible to choose the DVD of the month. Both Extras and Weeds are so brilliant shows you couldn't go wrong with either. I chose Weeds for the simple fact that it's comprised of 12 episodes as opposed to Extras' six.

DVD of the Month - Weeds: Season 2

The second season of Weeds took it to another level. Mary Louise Parker is absolutely amazing (although she refuses to marry me) as Nancy Botwin, the matriarchal drug dealer. Parker manages a comedic touch in the face of dramatic obstacles with an understated elegance. Meanwhile, Doug (Kevin Nealon), Nancy's business associate and accountant, proves himself one of the funniest characters in comedy today (He's Dwight Shrewt funny folks). The rest of the cast is wickedly funny

Runner Up
Extras: The Complete Second Season

Don't take this as a knock on Extras in anyway. It's as much a masterpiece and deserves all the credit in the world. In fact, I already gave it some love.

Laptop Batteries are More Than a Black Box

More than meets the eye.

Laptop batteries are the most important battery in the field of rechargeable batteries, but they are also the most complicated and regulated of all rechargeable batteries. The process alone to manufacture a laptop battery is long. How laptop batteries interact with the computer to function properly is another lengthy process. Manufacturers are also working constantly to improve laptop battery technology.

The process used to created laptop batteries involves a system of tests and re-tests to insure safety and reliability. Inside that plastic case that is the finished product, there are a number of components besides the battery that make it work. Inside the casing, there are safety fuses, breakers, thermistors, and charge electronics which all aid in the functionality of laptop batteries. The battery pack casing is welded together in a specific process and is then sent on for final inspection. During final inspection, tests are documented for form, fit and function and once the battery passes the test, it is labeled with a lot and date code.

All those extra components added to the battery pack are essential for laptop battery functionality. The thermistor controls the resistance of the battery and tells the computer to stop charging when the battery heats up as it completes charging. The circuit breaker helps protect against over charging and short circuits.

Laptop batteries are built with the best quality battery components that can be found. Battery cells are ensured to yield the highest capacity and safety qualifications, whether the battery cell is NiCD, NiHM, or Li-Ion. Some batteries are even equipped with their own microprocessor that communicates important charge information to the computer.

Information about laptop batteries proves that they are some of the most advanced rechargeable batteries available. Now when choosing a laptop battery, you won’t just see a black box, but rather a mini-computer that helps your laptop to run reliably and effectively.

PlayStation 3 Delayed

Sony’s original plan was to unveil its new PlayStation 3 in Japan this spring, but due to difficulties concerning its production plans, it seems that Japan will not see the new PS3 until August. One of the main production difficulties is related to the Blu-ray Disc drive in each console.

According to a Sony spokesperson, the company is waiting for the final specifications on some of the technology that is being used in the PS3, which includes the Blu-ray drive as well as input and output video and sound.

Sony’s stock took a hit on Monday after Merrill Lynch released a research note last week which indicated that the PS3’s launch may be postponed by six to 12 months, and that the cost of materials used in the console’s production could be around $900 per unit at the outset.

Yuta Sakurai, a senior analyst at Nomura Securities, estimates the price of the unit to be around 50,000 yen, which is about $420. “I don’t think it matters when Sony launches in the U.S. as long as it’s in time for Christmas,” he added.

Sakurai expects Sony to aim for an early summer launch, which would be in time for the big selling season around July, which is when schools are on holiday.

Little is known for sure about the PS3 as of yet. Price estimates by analysts in Japan vary greatly, ranging from 40,000 to 300,000 yen. The console will allow up to seven players to play at once, and will be powered by the “Cell” chip, which is more powerful than Intel’s Pentium 4.

Other features include an enhanced graphics chip, a built-in Ethernet port, and Blu-ray, which is a next-generation DVD format that is backed by Sony.

Since the technology specs for the PS3 are being delayed, game developers are forced to develop games with guesswork. “Game makers are developing games according to their guesses on what the final specifications might be,” said BNP Paribas analyst, Takeshi Tajima.

Sony’s PS3 will compete with the likes of the recently-released Xbox360 and Nintendo’s Revolution console, which is expected to be released later this year.

Play That Playstation

Playstation, the obsession of the younger generation in its earlier form was originally conceived back in 1988 when Sony and nintendo had a joint venture project to develop a super disc that was to be marketed as the nintendo game. Parting their ways the disk was never released. Sony later on released a modified version of the disc in 1991 as a part of their new game console The playstation. The playstation was first launched in Japan in 1994 and later on in the United States of America in 1995. Ever since the play station is the most popular video game the world over. In the earlier version of play station besides being able to play the games they could also read audio CDs with computer and Video information. The version released in 1994 played only CDROM based games and there began the success story of the playstation. The brand continues to be the undisputed leader in the market for the past 5 years of course nintendo64 and sega dreamcast are trying to breathe below its neck.

As the games of the play station x are CD rom based the size has a restriction of 650 MB which is more than sufficient for any type of game. There is no provision to save the personal information once the power is switched off however the facility is provided by means of flash memory cards. One has to be very careful with game CDs of play station though they are distinct and are very susceptible to scratches that makes the CD unusable like the normal audio CDs. The games available for the play station cover a wide range and the price range from USD10 to USD50.No wonder the play station has emerged as the hot favorite of many who are looking forward for new and exciting games.

With new technology the updated playstation versions possess far more capability for storage capacity, graphics control, and interactive ability. The playstation has evolved to meet its counterpart technology in the up and rising microsoft and Nintendo systems.

Playing Online Sports Games in Virtual Reality

Sports games involve high quality 3D graphics and high-speed animation and special effects that allow users to play such games as soccer, baseball, snooker, and other games on computers and on the internet. The advances in software and graphics technology have made software renditions of such games next to real and fun.

Before the rise of software and computer technology, few would have imagined playing baseball in virtual reality or on computers. These were games to be played outdoors, in lush green parks, or on the street. Now we can play them on monitor screens in one’s bedroom, or online with other players.

Some of the games that are popular today include the following:
Billiards – A combination of letter keys and the mouse allow the player to aim and shoot with high precision. The rules remain the same, and the visual effects are 3-dimensional.
Bowling – A number of customizable ball, 3 alleys, and near-realistic ball and pin movements make this club game come alive in your drawing room.
Tennis – A 3 set tennis match against the computer allows amateurs to try their hands with this game. The players and the strength of the hits are controlled by combining mouse dragging and a few keys.
Snow Boarding – An obstacle filled race that gives more points the earlier you finish. The controls as usual are with the mouse and keyboard. You get the choice of listening to background music as well.

Most of the virtual games are a test of one’s hand-to-eye coordination. It is a skill that comes with practice. The levels of the games differ and the usual options available are beginners, intermediate and advanced. Since the games are played against a computer software, the level of difficulty in limited by the quality of programming.

PSP: The New Wave

PSP, no this isn’t some new form of PCP or LSD or new street drug of choice, though it is a huge favorite among teens and college aged kids on the streets. The PSP stands for Play Station Portable. This is the newest hand held gaming system from Sony for their Play Station franchise. This new gaming system is light years evolved ahead of the Nintendo Gameboys that helped to start the whole craze, and PSPs offer far more options than their “ancient” predecessors.

PSPs are gaining strongly in popularity. Many advertisements on television commercials will even mention a movie coming out on PSP as well as DVD. The ability of this consul and portable gaming system to adapt to multi-functional usage is one of the aspects that makes it so appealing. While there were definitely some early detractors to the new PSP model when it was initially introduced (along with a huge number of gaming fans who swore by the Nintendo DS portable system) Sony’s PSP console’s ascent in popularity has been amazing, and remarkably fast, much like the popularity of Apple's iPod.

With the emergence of the console, PSP games have come into much higher demand. The cheaper alternative to buying games in stores is download them online, and the PSP seems to want to encourage these online sites to make downloading of the games and spreading of the game much easier. There are, in fact, over a dozen web sites set up specifically for downloading games. Most of these sites have a membership fee, ranging from a month to a year. A few of the web sites even have the option of life time memberships for a larger one time fee.

The nice thing for Play Station fans who are looking at a PSP is that the controls have not been radically changed. One thing about Nintendo, for example, was how radically the controls changed from the original Nintendo system to the Super Nintendo system, to the N-64, to the Nintendo Game Cube. Fans of the Sony systems won’t have to worry: whatever small changes are made, they are all still based and designed on the original controller that everyone has become familiar with. The PSPs thus have the familiarity of all the previous Sony Play Station features that make them so popular while also adding new benefits and bonuses to the equation, giving the PSPs a great chance at staying in the popular mainstream.

Paintball Ghillie suits

Making a paintball ghillie suit follows many of the same steps as a normal ghillie suit. You must assemble it according to your surrounding and you must also make sure it blends. Nowadays many folk have decided to forgo the building of a good paintball ghillie suit in favor of pre-manufactured suits already covered in grass, leaves, and other twigs. The problem with this is that many of these will not match, and much of the added foliage is artificial, meaning it wouldn’t match even if you drug it behind a truck through the Paintball Park itself.

The best paintballing arenas are those in wooded areas that allow for easy camouflage and hiding. Such forest settings will always have an abundance of leaves and twigs, along with dead grasses, mosses, and other things to adorn your paintball ghillie suit. The right paintball ghillie suit is usually assembled beforehand and will have much of the groundwork laid. Even if you go to a different park it can be blended in through some simple steps of just adding local leaves, dirt, and mosses to it. You could take a ghillie suit from the red dirt of Oklahoma to the dirt in California and still remain invisible - all you need to do is get it wet, drag it through the dirt, and then replace any missing patches with local foliage.

The paintball ghillie suit that your enemy wears may be just as good - so be careful to look for any unusual patterns. Sometimes something will seem a little too green, or too brown. Watch it for movement. If you watch long enough you’re bound to see a slight up and down with each breath - and then you will know your enemies paintball ghillie suit. Also, when you are hunting for targets, and you have your suit in a superior condition, you can sneak up on those who are using poorly made paintball ghillie suits - such as those made from artificial foliage. Blast them away without revealing your position; and you will have a chance to get another without moving.

Paintball ghillie suits can become filthy, dirty, and smelly. That is a good thing, because you want your suit to smell like dirt, but if the odor becomes too strong you may consider wetting it down and freshening the dirt, or even using manure to hide the other smells. In all likelihood though, smell from it may actually hide your own, and your paintball ghillie suit becomes another kind of mask for you - a scent mask. Paintball ghillie suits can also hide items for you in pouches, or in other secret locations. Some people even make paintball gun paintball ghillie suits, so their gun is just as undetectable as they are, and they will remain unseen.

Just remember, when you’re putting together your paintball ghillie suit, you need to make sure it matches; you need to make sure it is hidden from sight and from smell, and you need to make sure you don’t have any missing patches. The ghillie suit you use in paintball can determine the outcome of the game itself.

Pacman

In 1980 a little known distributor by the name of Midway released a game destined to become one of the greatest arcade classics of all time. Developed by Namco, Pacman is a maze game in which a player navigates Pac-man, a yellow figure, through a maze eating pills and avoiding ghosts.

Pacman has undeniably had a significant impact on the video game industry. Until Pacman, video games were almost exclusively “Space Shooters” – games in which a player controls a space craft that has to shoot something. Pacman was the first game to break out of that model and be incredibly successful. Since then, video games have diversified considerably and continuously branch out into new and creative areas.

The name Pacman is derived from the Japanese phrase Pakupaku which loosely translates into “he eats, he eats”. In fact, the game was originally released under the name Puck Man in Japan, but when the game was picked up by Midway to be released in the US the name was changed to Pacman for fear of vandalism that could potentially be inflicted by Americans in arcades and will include scratching the P into an F in the Japanese name “Puck Man”.

The first known “perfect Pacman game”, in which a player must complete all 255 levels, collect all the bonuses and never be caught by a ghost, was played by Billy Mitchell at 1999. Billy set the record at a local arcade in New Hampshire while employing a strategy of improvising throughout the 6 hours of game play and not using any repeating patterns or tactics. The final score was 3,333,360.

PCs or Gaming Consoles – A Debate

Digital games from the basic of tetris, super Mario, ping pong and other flash based games to massively multiplayer online role-playing games can be played for free or after paying some membership fees on both specialized consoles and on your good old personal computer (PC) Since gaming consoles have developed web capabilities between August and December of 2002, the debate on which option is better, has gained steam.
Given the enormous popularity of gaming consoles such as PlayStation 2 and Xbox, some industry analysts have suggested that PC gaming has seen its day and that consoles will be dominating force in future. But PC gamers have seen such claims biting dust since the days of Nintendo. This article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of gaming consoles.
Console Advantages

• Cost Advantage: Good PCs cost much more than the consoles. The Xbox currently sells for around $200, often with a couple games in the bundle, while it's easy to spend that much or more on a quality PC video card alone.
• No Fuss: With consoles, just plug it in and start playing. No operating systems, drivers to deal with and to top it all, there is no more heartburn of finding a game incompatible with your system after buying it with much anticipation.
• Multiplayer gaming made easy: Just connect your console to Internet through a DSL or Cable Internet connection and get into a multiplayer game.
• Play where you want to: Play it on the couch, your bedroom, even bathroom with a gaming console. No more sitting on dedicated table.
• Easily gettable games: since consoles don’t have copying ability, the console games are more readily rented and returned to the retailer than PC games which are easy to copy.
• Easy learning: Console games tend to have a relatively low learning curve. You might need fast thumbs, but you certainly won't need to spend hours in a tutorial trying to learn how to operate basic game functions.

Console Disadvantages

• Difficult updation: If some of the components inside the box become dated, the whole console need to be replaced to keep playing newer games. No remedies for that. This way you need to invest quite a hefty amount with each turn in technology. No such problems with PCs.
• Lack of versatility: Computers can do whole lot of things besides supporting online games. On the other hand consoles perform only one task really well. Some console manufacturers may try to make them a little more flexible, but it's unlikely they will ever support near the selection of applications that is available for PCs.
• Lack of inter-connectivity: It is the biggest grouse against gaming consoles. There is a clear lack of inter-connectivity between the different console brands because of commercial compulsions.
When it comes to online play of flash based games or multiplayer strategy games for free, players can pit against each other only on a specific network of people playing on same types of consoles. There is no way for console gamers to jump into a fray on one of the countless servers available. The PS2 has made some progress in this area, forging the way for cross-platform gaming between PS2 and PC users, but only one or two titles support this right now.
Of course, there are many things to consider before deciding on a gaming platform. Foremost among these is deciding which games you want to play, how much money you want to spend, and whether or not you need a PC for other purposes. Go for a good computer if you want to do multi tasking, but for a die hard gamer nothing less than the latest console would do, would it?

Or better still, check out Play-Online-Games-Free.com that offer even the most popular games such as tetris click here for free tetris to play now, super Mario, ping pong and other flash based games or multiplayer strategy games for free. You can get a good practice at computer gaming, don’t have to download anything and you get everything for free! Now aren’t you game for that?

Playing Online Games Comfortably: Hands

One of the most important parts in having a good time online is making sure that you are comfortable. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it is all too easy to forget to take a few basic precautions. If you really want to have a get time and set the new high score, then you should this.

The first thing you should take care of is your hands. Holding a mouse or hitting keys can cause a lot of persistent strain on your muscles. This is effectively what causes carpal tunnel syndrome as well, so you should definitely try and reduce the stress on your hands. Chances are that you’ll probably have a gaming session at an online arcade so prepare your surrounding to help your hand. If you are getting ready to play a shooter than you should position your hand for the least strain possible. For example, it is difficult to play arcade games for any length of time if your wrist is at a significant angle. You should keep your hand level with the mouse if possible. This can be done through several means. You can buy a nice mouse pad that has a wrist rest built in at the base, or you can just grab a standard paperback book and place it between you and the mouse. This is usually enough to keep your wrist relatively level with the mouse.

This is the first step to happy hands. You should now be able to play your favorite arcade games without getting sore. There are a few other ways to extend your flash game session though. You need to get in the habit of checking your grip. It is all too easy to get into the “DIE ALIENS DIE!!!!!” mode and forget that you are now apparently trying to strangle your mouse. It’s basic physics. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you are playing arcade games while trying to crush your mouse, the mouse will be exerting an equal force out onto your fingers. This can lead to some painful cramping and discomfort that will make you quit your game early.

It may seem like I’ve forgotten the keyboard arcade games, but I didn’t. The same basic rules apply to playing an arcade game with a keyboard. If you are racing are playing an online adventure game, then you’ll want to keep your wrists straight and your fingers relaxed. There are classes to teach perfect typing methods, but you don’t really need to type 70 words a minute to win an online race. Just keep your wrist out from your body and try not to rest them on anything. That really builds up stress while you’re playing.

All of these may seem to be a little nit picky, but you shouldn’t be quick to forget about them. Nothing is worse than your hand cramping up and costing you a win after you’ve spent 20 minutes getting to the last level. Just follow these basic tips and avoid 3 hour gaming sessions, and you should be fine. Now go get ‘em!

RuneScape Playing Tips and Tricks Guide

The entertainment arena relating to online video gaming is blowing the socks of the Wall Street Wannabes.

With popular games such as "Everquest" and "World of Warcraft" grossing millions for their investors, others have tried entering the market.

With astonishing growth these no name companies have begun to gather hundreds thousands of followers for their simpler versions of "Everquest" and alike. One such online game is RuneScape@.

RuneScape was created by a small company called Jagex. They have made a few smaller single player games but nothing as big as their online RPG game RuneScape.

In the game RuneScape, you traverse a world as a person that you design, accomplishing tasks such as making weapons, fishing, fighting, and more. After so long the goals are accomplished and you find new things to explore.

There are two types of accounts available: Free, which is supported by ads, and Premium, which has no advertising and you also have more options. Although the graphics are from the days of the 80's they do have a very reliable uptime and since it is free you cannot complain. WOW and Everquest charge $50 for the game in the store and then $15 a month for memberships, very expensive yet extremely awesome graphics.

The interactive game, RuneScape, is popular with the younger crowd because it is an interactive myspace site. You create a character, hair, clothes, personality and more. You can chat with your friends or anyone else throughout the world. It is a great game for kids and can be very entertaining. They also have safety features to protect against SPAM and obscene language, which makes it even safer for your kids to play. But let us get to the real topic of this article, the RuneScape tips and tricks.

Throughout the Internet you will find literally hundreds of fans websites with ¡°The Ultimate Guide¡± but let us face it, how many really are. The most important things are the following:

First, if you intend to really play and evolve throughout this game, you will need to open a premium membership account for $5 a month. With this you can store more gold and items at the bank and you are also open to a whole new level of quests and arenas.

Second, auto miner programs are always key to building strong characters quickly and to acquire lots of gold.

Lastly, play. The whole point of game is not to get the secrets from a guide and then beat it, it is to play the game and exercise your mind to solve the puzzles. With over 150,000 people playing at any given moment and millions of registered users, probably all between the ages of 12-16, the game cannot be that hard.

Have fun playing, don't forget to come back and read more on http://www.runescape-tips-tricks.info .

Roller Rush

If you like the game Diner Dash, then you will probably like Roller Rush. The game play is very similar yet the theme is quite different. Roller rush is based on the 50's theme of drive-in dining. You play as a girl in skates and you need to serve as many customers as you can in order to achieve the money goal for the day. Achieving your goal gives you stars. You can then use these stars to purchase different upgrades. You can choose to immediately use up your stars on upgrades or you can wait for them to accumulate in order to get better upgrades. You can also get bonus points by completing a roll - same task done in succession. The longer the roll, the more money you get.

Roller Rush is a game of skill and strategy as well as fast reflexes. The game starts out easy, with good time spacing between customers. The higher the level, however, the more customers you get and the faster they come. There are different types of customers – some more impatient that others. You tend to get the more impatient ones at the higher levels.

The overall theme of the game is a treat, especially if you are into retro. You have a jukebox that plays music in the background throughout the game. It uses a default playlist. However, you can tweak the game and have the jukebox play your own mp3s stored on your hard drive! Now you can play and listen to music at the same time.

The graphics are not spectacular but they suit the game very well. They are pleasing to the eyes and different animations make for a good gaming experience. As opposed to many other games out in the market, the content is kid friendly. You have to be a little bit older than a “kid” to be able to beat the game, though. For the not-so-skilled players, there comes a point in the game wherein you just cannot seem to handle all the customers and earn enough money in a day. It’s either you step up or lose all your lives.

Role of The Druid WOW

Of the many different character classes in WOW, each having a different accepted role, there is one lauded as superior by those who play them, and scoffed at by those around them. There are a few responsibilities that must be filled for a group of adventurers to succeed in a dungeon. There must be a “tank,” someone who gets the attention of the monsters they are attempting to kill. A healer is important to keep the group alive. There are damage dealers who are primarily responsible for slaying the monsters in melee or from a distance. Characters in charge of crowd control stall certain targets to make taking down others easier.

Each class generally fills one role with ease and can switch to another if it is needed. The Warrior, for example, is first and foremost a tank. Warriors are given the most abilities to generate and maintain the focus of the foe. But in a group with two warriors, or if another class wants to try their hand at tanking, the warrior can be used as a damage dealer. The WOW Paladin, normally used in instances as a healer and support character, can generate cause enough threat to hold the targets attention.

The Druids of Azeroth, made up of the Night Elf and Tauren populations, have an interesting mix of abilities. To WOW, they are the shape shifting Jack of all Trades. They can heal the party, with efficiency topped only by the Priest. In Cat Form they can deal melee damage and sneak around their enemies with the guile of a Rogue. If shifted into Bear Form, they are capable of performing tanking roll of a Warrior. While in Moonkin Form, they can dole out massive damage by raining down arcane and nature spells on the target. This wide range of abilities makes the druid the ideal member of any party, if one person fails, the druid can switch over to the vacated role and pick up the slack.

This is not often how the party views the situation, however. In small instance groups of five people, the druid is often taken only if they are willing to be a healer, despite their versatility. A druid desiring to fill another role, especially the popular role of damage dealing, is shunned. The WOW developers gave druids certain abilities, such as moon fire or faerie fire, which are very visible spells. These spells have beneficial effects for the group, but a druid casting them on a target will often be ridiculed from the party for ‘wasting mana’ that should be reserved for healing.

The issue stems from two major problems in WOW. The first is the lack of healer classes. There is only one class out of eight on each faction that is a dedicated healer, the Priest. There are two other classes on each side that are capable of healing, the Paladin for Alliance and Shaman for Horde, then the Druid. The low amount of available healers leads to less players playing them, which feeds right into the next dilemma. The second problem being that most players are too shortsighted to see beyond the Druids healing ability. There are many people with the immutable mindset that if a druid can heal, he should heal. While they are an effective healer, they are quite effective at every other role they can fill as well.

No one would ever accuse Blizzard entertainment of being hasty with their decisions. WOW and their other games have had their release dates pushed back many times. In the past hardcore fans of Blizzard’s work know that this delay is for the best, the company labors to produce the finest quality product. The Druid went through months of internal testing and balancing before the concept became a reality. By giving the druid all the basic abilities of a rogue, a warrior, a mage and a priest, it is quite clear they had a greater intention for the class than staple healer.

PSP Emulator And Game

PSP emulator and game are something you can get serious enjoyment out of with your PSP. The PSP is a fantastic system for games, and among its many advantages is that it is quite easy to download and use emulators and games with it. With a bit of advice from here, you could soon be playing Double Dragon and Castlevania on your PSP?

It isn't quite as straightforward to use PSP emulator and game as you might expect. If you think it is just a case of transferring the game onto a memory card and then running it, it isn't. There is more to it than that. In order to make any progress with this project, you will need emulator software. This will tell your PSP what it has to do to mimic a different system, and enable it to play the games from the other system. You can pick up this type of software in many different places, but you do have to be very careful as a lot of these sites can be dangerous. There are unscrupulous sites which could have you download a virus, or something which will damage your PSP. Later in the article I will tell you where to find the honest, genuine sites that you can use to safely download the software.

You are unlikely to be able to get a PSP emulator and game from one place. Usually you will need to pick them up from different sites. The game files for an emulator are called a rom, and there is no shortage of ROM sites online. The biggest pitfall you face when downloading PSP emulator and game is a legal one. A lot of the old games are still under copyright, and if you do download the game and have not paid for it, you will be breaking the law. There are manufacturers who have legalized the downloading of their emulators and games by transferring them into the public domain. There is a very useful loophole that you could try and use. Provided you have a legal copy of the game already, there is no law against having backups. This means that your old SNES game that you still own can be played on your PSP, provided your original copy was a legal one!

Just as an aside, when using PSP emulator and game, you may come across the problem of some firmwares not allowing you to use emulators. You can, however, downgrade your PSP firmware, and you are often better off with a slightly older one.

You will often find that the toughest problem with PSP emulator and game is that of finding trustworthy sources. Sites can be put into three broad categories-

Free Sites-The only thing that keeps these sites free is that no one would ever give them money for their services! You will receive a very poor choice of games and emulators, software which doesn't work, spyware and viruses, painfully slow downloads, and downloads which turn out to be something totally different from what they were supposed to be. Good luck if you use one of these sites, you will need it!

Scam Membership sites-These are sites which pretend to be free, but will grab your credit card details every time you go to download something. I would stay away from these because I don't really like paying again for a game I had on Genesis in 1992.

Genuine Membership sites- This is the place you need to look at for PSP emulator and game. There IS a charge, but it is a one off charge, and it is not that large. By paying this one time fee, you will have access to all the great condition emulator downloads you could ever wish for. Usually you will get to download as many free PSP games as you can manage. These are the sites I use for my emulator downloads, and I would recommend them. Getting to grips with PSP emulator and game is not quite as easy as many people think, so hopefully these tips will be of great use to you!

Voice Changer Vivifies Role Playing Games

Since early1990s, Online game has become a spectacularly booming industry in the world. International Data Corporation’s 2004 statistic showed global Online game’s income was $ 8.2 billion and an estimated of $ 22.7 billion in 2009. In China, the biggest online game market, those numbers were $ 300 million and $ 1.3 billion respectively.

What is the source of all this?

The newborn Online game has dislodged PC game and Console game from their firm positions as Online game is always available for updating, creating new functions and expanding game world’s map. If life cycle of a PC game or Console game is: Introduction – Growth – Upgrade – Decline, it is quite different with Online game: Introduction – Growth – Outdating – Upgrade – Outdating – Upgrade…Thus, even pro game players who know all secrets of Final Fantasy, Fallout, etc. cannot boast “ I am an expertise of The Sims or Warcraft”.

Furthermore, Online game is actually a huge community of old and new members as once upgraded, every player has to grope for a brand new adventure with unlimited exciting and thrilling stage. The phrase “MMORPG” (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) becomes more popular than ever and no longer do players have to face monotonous individual games but they can now interact with hundreds or thousands of other players from all over the world.

It can be said without exaggeration that the players can live a real life in virtual world of Online game. They gather in one side and undertake the adventure of a lifetime together, such as fighting and protecting Human or Ak’kan clan in Risk Your Life II, or borrow money, or trade weapons. All real emotions are shown when playing Online games: glad when winning, satisfied when trading a valued weapon, or disappointed when being defeated. A current research of Avnex Ltd. (www.audio4fun.com) found that many game geeks also use Voice changer software (VCS) together with some chat application such as Ventrilo, Teamspeak to make the virtual games become vivid. VCS can change their voice to multi-characters they are playing role in, regardless age and sex. Imagine that how much more interesting a sonorous voice of a knight, a charming voice of a heroic will make the game is. One game player shared in the research interview: “That was a female character, and I did hear her sweet and sexy voice asking for my weapon. Of course I was falling into her flirtation. After a couple of days, it turned out that my weapon was in a class mate’s property. He used AV VCS”.

Video Games From Cheats And Tricks To Reviews

Title:
Video Games From Cheats And Tricks To Reviews

As you probably know that nobody likes a cheater. However, when discovering video game cheats, "cheating" isn't what you're doing, but "discovering shortcuts, tips and tricks," or video game hints.

Video games are usually incredibly complex, since the days of Pong and PacMan, that the game authors have actually hidden some back doors and other shortcuts to help the weary player. The problem is, most of the back doors are well hidden that the same authors have to leak the game cheats or nobody would ever find a back door.

And it's not only the blood and guts video games that provide cheats to the game player. Take the perfectly bloodless "Finding Nemo" for the GameBoy Advanced. Who'd ever guess that there are at least six video game cheat codes hidden there?

Don't make a mistake, thinking that it's just the handhelds. If you play a video game online, for instance,XBox Live, there is a whole set of video game hints available.

Of course, video game cheat codes and game hints could become useless if you don't have a video game. And that's why video games have become available on the website.

Any web sites that are worth visiting will not only content video game reviews and cheats for you. but they will also provide you with game walkthroughs. Video game walkthroughs are different from cheats in the sense that they actually "walk you through" the process of achieving some goals. Video game cheats, in contrast , are often cryptic one or two liners like "Enter xx312 in the password field."

There are different kinds of video game reviews. Each has good and bad points. Professional video game reviews are usually written by paid reviewers who work for video game magazines. These reviews are well-written, in depth, and definitely worth reading. The other most common writer for video game reviews are the actual end users. While an end user will normally have spent a lot more time playing the various video games on the most popular video game systems, you'll often discover that they are men and women of little words. It's not uncommon to find a review that says "Wow! Kick Bu** man. I love it!" Now, that's probably simply saying quite a bit about a particular video game, but -- your mileage could be various.

The key thing to be remembered is that you will not invest in a video game if there are only a few people who write a review of the game. Certainly, if everyone believes this advice, there would be no video game reviews on the internet, because everyone would be waiting for others to write a review for them.

There are also game previews. A video game preview is a lot similar to a movie trailer. They include all of the really exciting parts together and provide you a rapid and furious glimpse wishing that you'll believe that the entire video game is actually as cool as the 90 seconds of video game previews that they let you get a peek at.

The video game industry is at a crossroads. The more people play game online switch, the more the video game systems like XBox Live and all of the XBox video games are out there, it could be predicted that the days of jamming your joystick alone in your room are slated to become "back in the day." And as there are more video game systems opt for Internet connectivity, you intends to find that you will never have to play video games alone again.

The world of computer gaming, high-stakes and intense competition

Multiplayer games and tournaments are now offering cash prizes, adding to the thrill of competing. To participate, a valid credit card or paypal account is required. And, a player must live in a state or country that has no laws against online gaming for money. Sites which promote such activities are: www.worldwinner.com and www.arkadium.com

Gaming leagues are becoming professional and organize competitions where cash prizes are worth over US$ 100,000 in cash. These events are seen as business and marketing development opportunities. Hardware manufacturing giants like Intel sponsor gaming clans and see gaming world-wide as a profitable avenue for promoting their products. High-stake gaming competitions are popular, but the real fights occur behind the scenes, where companies spend millions trying to get their technology directly into the hands of gamers

Professional gaming has taken the world by storm and, LAN competitions are high-stake tournaments with a few gamers earning a living just competing. A professional gamer with a sponsorship plan in place can earn up to US$ 500,000 per year. Cyberathlete, Professional League, Gamecaster, Global gaming League, are some of the organizations that host competitions. The first professional gaming league was set up in 1997 and today the competitions are not just televised but covered by major publications and newspapers. MTV, CNN,ESPN, USA Network, ABC World News Today, FOX, WB and others telecast the events live.

Gamers from all walks of life train intensely to become virtual world champions, winning brings fame, money, as well as recognition. And, since 2001 The World Cyber Games are held in a different country each year. The prize in 2004 was worth US$ 400, 000 and competitors played: FIFA Soccer 2004, Need for Speed, Underground, Star-Craft, Brood War, Unreal Tournament 2004, Dawn of war, Dead or Alive Ultimate, and Halo 2.

Gaming is serious; it is about quick thinking, intense practice, team work, interaction with other players, and understanding technology at its best. Gamers have to be on their toes, keep abreast with new launches, changes, patches, cheats, and more.

According to online gaming expert Psychologist Professor Mark Griffiths, “online gaming addiction for a small minority is a real phenomenon and people suffer the same symptoms as traditional addictions. They are the types of games that completely engross the player. They are not games that you can play for 20 minutes and stop. If you are going to take it seriously, you have to spend time doing it”

That gaming is taken seriously is confirmed, many major colleges are offering minor as well as major courses in game design, animation, cognition and gaming, computer music, psychology of play and more. RPI, the Pratt Institute, University of Colorado, the Art Institute of Phoenix, the University of Washington, and the University of Pennsylvania are among those that have programs in computer graphics and game technology. They are set to become a feeder system for the US$ 10 billion a year game industry.

The PS3 Games Mystery

The news is out: the PS3 games console is to be launched simultaneously around the globe in November 2006. But despite the grand global launch plan for the PS3 games console, there are doubts about its impact on the market. Even more, game analysts doubt if this global launch can help Sony regain lost market because of the earlier release of Microsoft's Xbox 360. There are also many speculations why the new PS3's launch keeps getting delayed.

Though Sony claims that the delays were due to digital rights management or DRM troubles, many analysts believe otherwise. Analysts pose more pressing issues as reasons for the PS3 games console's launch delays. Eiichi Katayama, an analyst from Tokyo-based Nomura Securities' Financial & Economic Research, suggests that the delays are probably caused by the slow progress of graphics chip development. Others offer reasons such as insufficiency of appropriate software titles. However, Sony is quick to dismiss these rumors and again reiterated the problem of DRM for their Blu-ray optical drive.

Blu-ray chips provide the new console with removable PS3 storage capacity that is five times bigger than the storage provided by DVDs of older consoles. Reports that PS3's Blu-ray and DRM feature are almost finished make them unlikely causes of delays. According to Katayama, ROM mark and BD+ licensing have already started which make copy protection technology an implausible reason. Analysts believe that if DRM technology really cause the delay, the profit from PS3 games console would not suffer too much. However, if the reasons are as they believe -- graphics chip development -- the sales impact would probably be the worst in Sony's history.

Sony contradicts the analysts' measure of the situation and denies that the delays set the PS3 games console and the company at a disadvantage behind Microsoft and Xbox 360. Xbox 360 hit the stores last year and is still the top gaming console according to market trends. Jennie Kong, Sony's European branch's PR manager, defends the company's strategy and claims that the company doesn't allow itself to be dictated by their competitors' moves. However, history supports the analysts' views of the matter. It can be recalled that Microsoft and Sony had once faced the same situation, only this time, Sony has the advantage with the early release of their PS2 over the first Xbox. Current Analysis' Steve Kovsky reminds that at that time, Microsoft suffered huge losses; clearly, Sony is slated for the same fate with PS3.

If Sony pushes for the November 2006 launch, it gives the Xbox 360 a full year sales advantage. However, the PS3 games franchise's problem does not end with the launch's delays. Rumors and news are circulating that even before its game console's launch, Sony is planning to outlaw its resale. Different sources claim that Sony plans to sell the new consoles with their own individual licenses. This effectively prohibits second-hand sales in person or in online shops like http://Amazon.com and http://eBay.com. In essence, buyers are only purchasing the license to use the consoles; Sony still holds the proprietorship of the product. Game analysts comment that this is a logical move, if proven true. Sony would need all the push it can have to increase the sales of individual PS3 units.

The company refrains from making comments about the allegations no licensing. They maintain that all important announcements have been made during the E3 trade show and all other announcements would be made on the PS3 games console launch. This announcement, instead of putting a stop to the rumor mill only fuel the fire. But as it is, there is nothing gamers can do but just play their PS3 games and wait.

Staying Safe While Gaming

There was a time when computer gaming was time spent ‘just for me’, but with the advent of the Internet, gaming shifted from a solitary pursuit to one with almost endless social possibilities. The increasingly availability of free online games democratized the gaming experience, removing any financial obstacle from the path of those searching the Internet for cheap ways to have some fun. The Internet has opened up an entire virtual world to anyone with a connection, and while online gaming can offer a wonderful opportunity to meet people all across the globe, the accessibility of free online games also makes them vulnerable to danger.

Free online games are easy to locate and play, usually only requiring the input of a gaming identity and other basic details. While most people participating in these games are undoubtedly doing so to while away those lazy free time hours, a quick glance at any news report tells us that there will always be people willing to exploit an innocent forum for their own gains.

This is why online games must always be played with the same caution you would display elsewhere. While most Internet users are vigilant in monitoring closely the information with which they are willing to part online, the experience of gaming can undermine inhibitions and result in the making of poor choices. Free online games are designed to create excitement or relaxation, and this is the very reason that we play them. But this relaxed state of mind can compromise our vigilance, and result in our revealing information that we would, at other times, keep to ourselves.

Despite the camaraderie discovered playing free online games, it is important to remember that you do not really know the people with whom you are playing. While sharing some information is fine, it is always wise to avoid revealing any identifying information, such as your real name, your age, or your address. This is particularly true for small children, whose natural inhibitions are few. Monitor young children’s Internet usage at all times, and be sure they understand that online friends are not the same as real life ones.

Free online gaming is a great way to spend some free time, so keep it fun by staying safe at all times. Enjoy spending time with your new virtual friends, but remember that things are not always what they seem and keep your personal information to yourself.

Tetris – The Game of the Past and the Future

Fans of gaming of any sort all know a few basic games that formed the foundation of what we know today to be the number one form of entertainment. One of these original games is Tetris. Known around the world since it’s release, Tetris has long been one of the most popular ways for people to waste some time and have a good time in the same breath. Before we can understand why it is such a great game, lets first examine the history of Tetris and how it evolved into this modern day wonder of a game.

A number of lawsuits have been filed to find out who the actual inventor of Tetris is, to avoid confusion we are just going to let that name remain unsaid. The game was invented in the mid-80s in Russia and quickly became a popular device for people to have fun with. After a brief struggle to get the game on the popular PCs that most people in America used, the game was introduced to the United States in 1986. After the game grew in popularity again, a number of new lawsuits were filed to determine who had the rights to the game. After a while, the system Atari was finally awarded these rights for arcades and Nintendo got them for consoles. After that Nintendo began to release a number of highly successful versions of the popular game, and still do so today even for their newer consoles. Tetris remains popular today even as games with better graphics and more advanced controls are released.

So now that we have a little understand towards where the game from, lets look at why it is so popular. Tetris seems like a very simple game, which makes it appealing to many gamers who do not want to or simply do not have the time to spend on learning advanced controls. Because there are only about five keys that a gamer needs to know, anyone can be playing this game efficiently within minutes. Sweet and simple are two words that make Tetris so appealing to players initially.

After playing Tetris, gamers soon find that the game is much more complex than thought before. While there are no controls, different shapes of blocks, obstacles, and speed of drops all add to the confusion and act to make the game harder to play. It becomes frustrating to lose and a challenge to pass the higher levels. Players find themselves addicted and dedicated to beating Tetris, or at least setting a higher score than their friends and family did before.

Another appealing nature of the game is the accessibility of the game. You don’t need to own a Nintendo console of any kind to play the game, unless you prefer the flashier, new versions of Tetris. The game can be found in many different versions online, the easiest being the flash version. Because of that a gamer can quickly locate this game and be playing in no time. When you have only a fifteen-minute span to squeeze some fun in, this works great for you.

Overall Tetris may seem like a simple game but in fact it is much more complex once played. It is a game that has been around for more than two decades and will be around for much longer than that. A granddaddy to all current games, Tetris is a good experience for all gamers of all ages. So if you are one of the few who has not ever experienced this game, go out and try it and you will have a good time for sure.

Solitaire Game Guide

Despite what you may think, solitaire isn't actually one specific game... it's actually an entire category of different games. Solitaire is actually any card game that you play on your own. The game called "Solitaire" that Microsoft ships with windows is actually a type of solitaire game, called Klondike.

There are hundreds of other solitaire games as well though. Another favourite is Freecell, which Microsoft also ships. Other popular solitaire games, include Spider, Pyramid, and Tri Peaks.

Each solitaire game has different rules, different ways to win, and different styles.

Some solitaire games, like Klondike, don't show you all the cards at the start. A mixture of luck and skill is needed to win the game.

Other games, like Freecell, have all the cards visible, right from the very start of the game. This means that the game is totally under the users control... there is no luck involved at all, and if the user can think things through deeply enough, then they are VERY likely to win.( Of the 32,000 deals available in Microsofts Freecell, only one, deal number 11982, is unsolveable)

Some games are really hard to win, and require a lot of though. 4 Suit spider is one of these hard games, and completing a game normally takes atleast half an hour of solid thinking. Other games are either quite easy( like most deals in Freecell), or don't require much (if any) thought, like Clock.

Some games have distinctive and attractive card layouts. Pyramid has all the cards in a big pyramid shape, and the player must remove cards from the bottom layers until they can reach the top. La Belle Lucie starts the game with 18 fans, which all grow and shrink as the game goes on. (La Belle Lucie looks particularly attractive on a solitaire game supporting rotated cards)

Some solitaire games were played regularly by important historical figures. George Washington and Napoleon were waid to play Napoleon at Elba island, with claims that it helped them to think in times of stress.

All solitaire games help you to think, and improve your concentration and memory- and yet they are still relaxing and fun... A much better way to unwind than watching TV!

No matter who you are, or what mood you're in, there is a type of Solitaire game that you will find fun to play right now. I encourage you to try out a solitaire game package, and discover for yourself all the great fun available in the solitaire universe.
